I’m sure you've seen the videos and the advertising for Yoshi’s Crafted World, but NONE of that truly does justice to this game in motion, nor does it show how absolutely beautiful it is. I turned the game on and was absolutely mesmerized visually with this game. It looks SUPERB! It truly looks like real cardboard and other elements are making up the world, and it's surreal. The 2.5D-style platforming only enhances this feeling as you move about the world made of crafting material, as you make your way into houses made of cardboard, and among enemies made of yarn and other such materials.
I was just absolutely blown away by this game’s visuals, and the gameplay does not disappoint either. While not classic Yoshi’s Island platforming speed, Yoshi’s Crafted World instead slows it down a little, but adds the ability to throw eggs in more ways than just on the 2D plane you are on, allowing you to interact with background and foreground objects in fun ways, and to open up more paths around the level to help you uncover the true goal of any Yoshi game, getting that sweet sweet 100% completion for the levels.
The demo level I played was a lot of fun, and it took me more than my first play to uncover all of the secrets hidden in it. The demo changed me from a “Yeah, I’ll buy this game at some point” to a day #1 buy! I literally went and pre-ordered this right after I finished the demo. It was awesome! The music was light, airy and catchy, and the sound effects was classic Yoshi sounds mixed with the sound of slapping cardboard as the level unfolds in front of you and you open up paths with your eggs.
After playing this demo, I can say without a doubt that this game is certainly going to be a must-have for any fan of some good platforming. I can’t wait to play more, and the trailers have only gotten me more hyped since I’ve gotten my hands on the actual game. If you haven’t already, PLAY THIS DEMO!
